| FLECON-6G is a European research project developing a federated 6G service marketplace that enables the dynamic deployment of end-to-end services across telecom, cloud, edge, and satellite infrastructures. Using an intent-based approach, users can request complex services through high-level requirements, which are automatically translated into coordinated resources from multiple providers. In public safety scenarios, this enables rapid, resilient, and reliable provisioning of mission-critical services for emergency response. | Recent global disasters have underscored that advanced alert systems are only as effective as a citizen’s ability to react adequately. Horizon-funded B-prepared project bridges this critical gap in the safety chain by transforming static public safety communication into an immersive, multi-actor training experience. Built on a collaborative knowledge base (Disastropedia) and driven by a consortium of 15 international partners, the project utilizes a high-fidelity VR serious game, an accessible gamified mobile app (IM Prepared), and a unified Learning Management System (LMS – RU prepared) to foster a proactive culture of disaster readiness. By simulating realistic scenarios (Wildfire, Flooding) and analyzing privacy-preserving player data, the B-Prepared project provides research stakeholders from diverse backgrounds as well as citizens with evidence-based insights into human behavior, ensuring that in moments of danger, cooperation and clear communication become second nature. Getting involved: RU prepared? VR Prepared! IM Prepared! – just B-Prepared! |

| Natural disasters need emergency management systems. Currently, protocols and tools in Europe vary from country to country. The EU-funded ARTEMis project aims to develop procedures for risk assessment, alerting, and disaster response across Europe. The project will assess systems, create an integrated emergency management framework, and standardise forecasting methods. Pilot tests in disaster-prone areas will validate these approaches. Workshops, training, and public awareness campaigns will enhance preparedness and improve understanding of risks throughout the continent. The overall goal is to make Europe’s response to natural hazards faster, smarter, and more unified. |
