THE EC PUBLISHES THE RESULTS OF THE EUROBAROMETER SURVEY

Earlier this month, the European Commission released the results of the Eurobarometer Survey aimed at assessing the public opinion about the action of the European Civil Protection in the Member States. One of the major considerations derived from the Survey was a strong consensus regarding a better coordination of activities across the continent.

At the beginning of 2023, the Commission adopted the EU Disaster Resilience Goals responding to the request of citizens to enhance disaster resilience in Europe. The Survey reiterated the success of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and the utility of having a system in place that allows Member States to call upon a coordinated response to disasters rather than dealing with them individually.

Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič also stated that the results of the Eurobarometer Survey are a testimony of the importance of the continued work towards strengthening the EU Civil protection mechanism and an incentive to further develop the Resilience Goals adopted in 2023.
