On 04 and 05 May 2017, another PSCE conference successfully took place at the Leonardo Munich City South Hotel.
This edition focused on IoT applications for public safety, future broadband, on the ethical considerations embedded in the exchange of information in emergency situations, on cybersecurity, redundancy & resilience, the development of Apps in PPDR and on the use of UAVs (drones) in public safety missions.
In addition to the outstanding presentations given by the key-note speakers, the conference provided an excellent platform to share information and to exchange points of view in the field of public safety communications. It brought together around 60 participants including top-level policymakers, academic researchers, industrial experts and other interested stakeholders.
This year was marked by a fascinating guided tour in a mountain rescue simulation center in the vicinity of Munich, which allowed conference delegates to immerge in real life emergency situations and to receive precious feedback from first responders volunteering for the Bavarian mountain rescue.
Finally, we would like to express our gratitude towards the German & Bavarian Red Crosses for their warm hospitality, in particular Mr Johannes Richert, Mr Leonhard Stark and Mr Uwe Kippnich for their efforts which contributed to making this conference a memorable one.
All presentations have been made available to conference participants and all documents related to the conference are accessible for PSCE members via the registered section of our website.
A comprehensive conference report will follow shortly.
The next PSCE biannual conference will be held on 28 & 29 November 2017 in Madrid, Spain.
